Searchlight
04:21
|
|||
Gotta get away for the first time
It’s getting too hard to breathe
There’s a searchlight shining overhead
On the run better make my way
There’s a streetlight still fading away
Sticking to the dark far from freedom
Make it to the end, that’s how far I’m in
No turning back no open doors
With a second chance to start again
That’s all I want to happen
I’m breaking out
And there’s not a thing in the world that’s going to stop me from getting home
Searchlight’s coming for me, gotta find a way to break free
I’m in far over my head; I hope you’re waiting for me at the end
Searchlight’s coming for me, gotta find a way to break free
Still time to make it tonight, I won’t move on until I’m in your sight
Still not looking back at the stone walls
To the place where they kept me broken
One more choice is left, to take the final path
My only fear is that they’ll take me breathing
With a second chance to start again
That’s all I want to happen
I’m breaking out
And there’s not a thing in the world that’s going to stop me from getting home
Searchlight’s coming for me, gotta find a way to break free
I’m in far over my head; I hope you’re waiting for me at the end
Searchlight’s coming for me, gotta find a way to break free
Still time to make it tonight, I won’t move on until I’m in your sight

Life's Not So Bad
05:40
|
|||
No man can ever say he’s lived a perfect life
Envy, spite, and accidents can get the best of us
We can’t always do what’s right
The consequences of our mistakes still we feel
And though we try to tell ourselves we can’t go on
There’s no reason to break down
Even though I may stand on my own
And I can’t say that anything will change, I’ve got to try
Your doubt may be justified
But I have to be able to look myself in the eyes
I’m singing it
I’m fighting a fight I know I’ll never win
I don’t want to know how it feels to give in
And sometimes I get scared but I won’t let them win
No one will ever be able to say I gave up
You try and tell yourself that life’s an unfair game
And I’m not sure you’re wrong but I still can’t say the same
There’s no point in letting go
Lashing out at me ‘cause someone’s done you wrong
You try to hide yourself in books and angry songs
Why not just learn to forgive?
Even if you stumble and fall
In the end you’ll be better off, you’ll learn how to be strong
Just forget about those standing in your way
Deep down they’re just the same, you need to hope that someday they will change
I’m still singing it
I’m fighting a fight I know I’ll never win
I don’t want to know how it feels to give in
And sometimes I get scared but I won’t let them win
No one will ever be able to say I gave up
I won't ever let them say I gave up

Tell me what you want from me
We really need to talk this out
I’m sick of all our fighting always dragging me down
If I give in just a little bit I know you’ll take so much more
We can’t keep pretending that this is okay
Was it enough attention to your needs?
The only way you want me is when I’m down on my knees again
And if there’s one more thing you’re dying to know
All I’m going to say is goodbye
So what am I supposed to say?
I can’t seem to wrap my head around
What you’ve been throwing down
Can’t you see the way that you are?
Are we going to give up or turn this around?
Have you had enough or is this the end of it all?
I thought it wouldn’t be this bad
Telling you to let me go
And now you’re telling all your friends
That I was always in the wrong
If you had another shot I think that I would turn and run
No matter all the times you’ve tried, I’m never going to call you mine
Was it enough attention to your needs?
The only way you want me is when I’m down on my knees again
And if there’s one more thing you’re dying to know
All I’m going to say is goodbye
So what am I supposed to say?
I can’t seem to wrap my head around
What you’ve been throwing down
Can’t you see the way that you are?
Are we going to give up or turn this around?
Have you had enough or is this of it all?
Can I say it’s been fun but it’s time to move on?
When I’m gone, please don’t say you miss me

Pressure
04:28
|
|||
So you wake up in the morning
and turn on all your favorite songs
No matter how hard you try to live the life they want you to
still you'll never feel like you belong
You always question their intentions but still you see your
Life's not what it used to be
You're growing colder with every passing day
because now you have responsibilities
Everybody's pointing fingers
But no one seems to understand what it
means to live up to their expectations
Under all this pressure we will crack
You never stopped to ask the questions
about what your life is supposed to mean
and now you're so far gone you wonder to yourself
will you ever be the man you want to be?
You are forever in a daydream
Not killing time, just killing love
Will you surrender yourself to their destructive demands
or will you ever stand up and be strong?
You need to realize your potential
Stop viewing your life with their eyes
The best years of your life still lay before you
Are you going to let them just slip by?
What will I have?
Everybody's pointing fingers
But no one seems to understand what it
means to live up to their expectations
under all this pressure we will crack
Everybody's pointing fingers
But I've come to understand that I'll
never live up to their expectations
I need to live life by my own demands

Jackknife

Jackknife, calling out your name
Who said that you’re the one to blame?
Jackknife, I know it’s not your fault
You’re not the one that’s tearing me apart
But I know it’s in my head, it’s in my soul now
What you said I took to heart
I thought the carving was for me, I thought this was for real
But seems our love drifted apart
I saw you just the other day
I thought of excuses that you made
Did you think that you could get away from me, but you’re wrong
So now I’ll take this jackknife back to where it belongs
But I know it’s in my head, it’s in my soul now
What you said I took to heart
I thought the carving was for me, I thought this was for real
But seems our love drifted apart
Jackknife, calling out your name

Stairwell
04:41
|
|||
Point me in your direction because darling it’s getting late
I see you on the stairwell; tonight I’ll seal my fate
And I don’t mean to push you but your stare has a hold on me
Let’s take the exit and I’ll show you all of me
Have I gone too far this time? I’m starting to feel cold
The chill is coming over my body; I am losing control
But she said that it’s alright; I’ll be sleeping fine
When the morning comes that’s when you’ll know that you’re mine
All I know is something is coming for you now
All I know is something’s coming for you
She's coming now

Just Say the Word
03:16
|
|||
Remember when we were young?
The world couldn't beat us, nothing could come between us
We were strong; just me and you
Remember when we could see?
Life was opened up before us and no one could ignore us
we believed in life and love
But now our sun has set and day has turned to night
Hello darkness I need help to find the light
We can’t erase the past but we can learn to love again
Just say the word and I can heal
When did our world change?
All our joy turned to pain and I still can’t explain
It was the end of all our love
You left a broken heart
I’ve got nothing left to say my world of color’s turned to grey and
I’m alone with all my tears
But now our sun has set and day has turned to night
Hello darkness I need help to find the light
We can’t erase the past but we can learn to love again
Just say the word and I can heal

“No I don’t have a problem” said the man in the mirror
His face was still and quiet but his stare remained the same
“I could have been a lawyer but instead turned a crook,
All the pictures laid to waste but I remember one”
“Hey young man, you interested in being something more?
Having all the freedom that you never had before?
Do a simple deed for me and take what isn’t yours
Your life will never be the same but you’ll be never bored”
Young and free he went along with opportunity
I took the offer then, behind bars I’d soon find
Having time to think of when I sang a simple tune
Locked away inside this place, locked inside a tomb
There’s got to be a way for me letting go
All I really want is another shot at life
When years pass by and you forget it all
Nothing can save you from falling down
To your knees when you’ve left someone
The pictures stand but memories have all but gone
My father always told me to do the very best
Little did I know him before his days were arrest
To follow in his footsteps was a path to darker days
Simple visitations and the joy that they gave
Come the time to tell the tale of what my father’s done
I heard the saddened words of truth but still I held my tongue
“He doesn’t have a problem”, what I said to the judge
My face was still and silent from the verdict up above
He could have been a lawyer, but instead became a crook
All his pictures laid to waste but I remember one
There’s got to be a way for me letting go
All I really want is another shot at life
When years pass by and you forget it all
Nothing can save you from falling down
To your knees when you’ve left someone
The pictures stand but memories have all but gone
“No I don’t have a problem”, what I said in the mirror
My face was still in silence but my pain had disappeared
I could have been a lawyer, but instead pulled a gun
All my pictures laid to waste but still I have my son
